Very much like humans, even dogs love popsicles. It is said that popsicles are not healthy for dogs due to their high sugar content and artificial flavours. But don’t worry, dog-friendly popsicles can be easily made at home with ingredients that are readily available and are right there in your refrigerator!

Dog popsicles can work great on your furry pet. A Popsicle right out of the fridge served to your dog on a hot summer day after a tiring session of exercise can be very refreshing, healthy, tasty and hydrating for your mate.

Frozen popsicles are not only healthy but also yummy treats for your dog that will make them wag their tails and come to you for a delicious snack.

Only if you are still wondering how popsicles are safe for dogs, the only problem with them is the ingredients. And if you watch out the ingredients and to a safe side, if you make the popsicles by yourself, they literally are the safest and healthiest summer snacks that can be given to your dog.

Dog popsicles are very easy to make and can be prepared in no time. Be it anytime of the day, you can make these without any fuss and serve them to your dog. They can be eaten solely or can also be added into other food items to keep your dog hydrated.

Here are a few dog popsicle recipes that are going to make your dog’s mouth water!

  • Parsley

  • Chop the cooked chicken and divide them into 4 moulds.
  • Take dry parsley and mix it with 2 cups of water.
  • Add the water mixture to the chicken containing moulds.
  • Keep it in the deep freezer for around 8-9 hours until the mixture sets completely.
  • Check if it is properly done and run warm water over the mould to easily remove the popsicle.
  1. Watermelon Popsicles

Additionally, you can add an edible stick to the melon to make it better for your mate. But works great both ways!

  1. Peanut Butter Banana Popsicles

Dogs love peanut butter! What else can be a healthier and tastier option than a peanut butter banana popsicle! Not only will this pop help your dog with important nutrients but will also make it drool over how delicious it tastes.

Peanut butter helps with protein and is a good source of healthy fats, vitamin B, vitamin C and niacin.

Adding banana to the pop will make it even more nutritious. Bananas provide potassium that can help aid bones.

  • Half banana
  • Water

Talking about the different kinds of popsicles that can be served to your dog as a snack, it is important to take care of what you are feeding your dog on a regular basis. Giving the same kind of food everyday can make food time boring and monotonous for your pet.  It is important to experiment and look at healthier alternatives so that your fellow mate remains excited and happy about food time.

Sometimes, the healthiest and tastiest food can come out directly from the refrigerator; all that you need to do is put some efforts, look for new recipes and try them! Dog friendly popsicle is a great snack time alternative that can be served in the place of biscuits.

The above mentioned recipes hardly take time and are very easy to make (with minimal requirement of ingredients). If you are ever planning to experiment and switch over to healthier food for your dog, this one surely is a must try! If your dog is choosy about flavours and ingredients, you can change the fruit.

Any kind of fruit can make a flavourful popsicle. You can also try no fat yoghurt and jelly if you think your dog will like it.
